Job description
Perform and support structural welding operations in close coordination with supervisors, foremen, and the project team, to ensure all assigned tasks are completed safely, on time, and within budget, in accordance with project specifications and the International Maritime Industries Management System (IMIMS).
1. Execute all assigned structural welding tasks safely, efficiently, and within the designated timeframe.
2. Follow technical documentation such as Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Weld Maps, and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) to ensure compliance with project requirements.
3. Select appropriate welding equipment and methods based on material type, joint configuration, and job specifications.
4. Verify the validity of work permits (Hot, Cold, Isolation, etc.) before initiating any welding activity.
5. Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety briefings, and identify potential hazards associated with assigned tasks.
6. Perform welding operations in accordance with applicable codes and standards, ensuring alignment with technical drawings.
7. Monitor material usage and report potential shortages to avoid delays in production.
8. Conduct pre-welding preparations, inspect completed welds, and ensure they meet quality and dimensional standards.
9. Inspect and maintain welding equipment and tools to ensure safe and reliable operation.
10. Comply with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security (HSES) policies and procedures in line with IMI Management System standards.
• At least 8 years’ experience in the Offshore Oil or Shipyard/Ship repair industry.
• High School diploma or equivalent qualification (Welding apprentice)
• Certified 3G and 4G (ABS/Class Certified).
• Familiar with the common welding types: shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), and gas metal arc welding (GMAW).
• 3G and 4G qualified.
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools.
• Inspecting materials, welding equipment and tools.
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (such as face- shield, gloves etc.,)
• Understanding of various welding processes, Weld symbols, Weld maps, as well as cutting and grinding and gouging operations.
• Good oral communication skills in English.
• Good Communication Skills (oral and written) in the English Language.
