Senior Specialist, Production Process – MRO

JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE

The main purpose of the Senior Specialist Production Process is to develop, benchmark and monitor production flows, instigate changes where required and through collaboration with production department managers and Interface Engineers, deliver the changes and optimization required.

The Senior Specialist, Production Process will work under the guidance of the Operations Excellence Manager to prioritize focus areas with measurable impacts and expected outcomes.

The Senior Specialist, Production Process will collaborate further with the Production Manager and/or GM Production for alignment, sharing experience and knowledge on technological advancements and feasibilities in applying/adapting to new innovative techniques whether on actual production floor or systemic optimization.

Solution orientation and doing it right the first-time mindset is necessary, with an initiative-taking approach of solving issues before they become problems.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

•Adhere to, reinforce, and promote IMI Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Policies.

•Conduct research to develop new and improved processes for production.

•Design and plan workshops and equipment layouts.

•Conduct tests and monitor the process performance throughout production.

•Troubleshoot problems associated with production processes.

•Evaluate processes and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

•Estimate production costs and savings in applying various efficiency boosters whether on a temporary or permanent basis.

•Conduct gap analysis, process mapping and streamlining processes as deemed necessary.

•Contribute towards productivity/efficiency increase and revise productivity norms as per best practice.

•Conduct feasibility studies on special projects potentially to be undertaken in other areas of the yard.

•Conduct feasibility and application on Production flows / processes/ setup for areas outside the yard, whether for project execution requiring mobilization or through other affiliated agreements.

•Assist in investigating root causes of process failures and follow up on closing actions.

•Lead continuous improvement projects.

•Assess/Review/Implement network solutions for production improvement.

•Analyze current production procedures and recommend optimization through gained experience or modern technology/techniques.

•Create plans to eliminate inefficiencies.

•Process analysis and deliver presentations to management for reviews/approval.

•Prepare business cases for the IMI’ s management regarding their decision on investments if any with a proper payback period/ROI calculation (ROI: return on investment).

•Collaborate with procurement with regards to proposed equipment to be purchased once endorsed by the management based on techno-economical study towards efficiency improvement.

•Assist in updating and developing standard operating procedures.

•Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between all Production departments at all levels.

•Develop comprehensive production plans, including detailed schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.

•Visit project workshops and workstations regularly where related activities are taking place to check on progress/process and monitoring.

•Perform other relevant tasks as directed by reporting management

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education

•Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Master’s preferred. Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations)

•Shipyard Industry/Marine related professional qualifications or relevant time served. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

•Real and in-depth knowledge of production processes in a shipyard environment in the MRO world

•Up to date on industry technology

•Detailed knowledge of MRO production standards, norms, and integrations

•Negotiating and resolving conflicts

•Documentation management

•Communicating and managing interests of Work/Quality

•Assessing resource requirements

•Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS suite, AutoCAD).

•Sound understanding of Engineering drawings.

•Sound knowledge on tools/equipment’s and consumables, material grades and advances in technology.

•Overhauling working methods and processes

•Quality control and assurance

•Understanding of Asset Management & ERP systems, and ISO Standards.

•Lead by the front and by example

•Excellent communication skills (written & oral).

•Physically fit and able to work in extreme climatic conditions.

Experience

•At least 9 - 12 years’ experience in the production in shipyard environment. Weight towards MRO Languages

•Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in the English Language.
