Job description
Lead and coordinate shipwright activities related to structural assembly and outfitting of hull components, based on technical drawings and work instructions, to ensure safe, accurate, and timely execution of ship construction tasks, in full compliance with the IMI Management System standards for safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment by ensuring proper lighting, ventilation, clear access routes, fire extinguisher availability, and tidy cable management.
• Comply with all safety regulations and work standards, consistently wearing and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Participate actively in safety inspections, toolbox talks, and other health, safety, and environment (HSE) initiatives.
• Execute assigned shipwright tasks within the specified timeframes to meet project deadlines and productivity targets.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and safety personnel, avoiding unauthorized decisions or deviations from approved procedures.
• Perform shipwright duties only after obtaining the required qualifications and certifications, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
• Interpret and apply technical drawings and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) accurately before commencing any work.
• Inspect and operate tools and equipment to ensure they are in safe and proper working condition before use.
• High School diploma or equivalent qualification (Welding apprentice)
• At least 12 years’ experience in the Shipyard/Ship repair Industry.
• Certified 2G,3G welder (ABS/Class Certified).
• Optional abilities: Skid loader driving license, Folk lift driving license
→ a couple of ship wright workers need these abilities.
• Familiar with the common welding types: shielded metal arc welding
(SMAW), flux cored arc welding (FCAW)
• 2G, 3G qualified.
• Need to have a professional cutting skill.
• Experience in using measurement tools. (3D measurement, theodolite etc.)
• Inspecting materials, welding equipment and tools.
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective
clothing (such as face- shield, gloves etc.,)
• Understanding of various welding processes, Weld symbols, Weld maps,
as well as cutting and grinding and gouging operations.
• Must not have acrophobia, claustrophobia.
• Good oral communication skills in English.
• Good Communication Skills (oral and written) in the English Language.
