Dean, College of Medicine
Job Description
The Dean for the College of Medicine provides the COM with executive leadership, liaises with other senior officials, and manages external relationships and partnerships. The Dean is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction and financial performance of the College of Medicine with emphasis on academics, the strategic direction and vision for the College.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership by articulating an inspiring vision for the college
- Fosters student intellectual development and academic mission
- Promotes recruitment, retention and academic progress
- Recruits and retains faculty and staff of the highest caliber
- Manages resources through allocation of space and budget
- Promotes externally funded research
- Represents the interests of the college and PMU
Qualifications
- Medical degree or equivalent
- Minimum of five years full-time university-level professional experience
- Prior role in key leadership positions at previous medical school
- Experience in instructional program administration and curriculum development
- Certification in at least 1 medical specialty area
