Senior Accountant
Job Description
Responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to complete accounting and financial duties of the Branch, including booking accounting transactions validating supporting documents of accounting vouchers, reconciling accounts, and ensuring proper accounting controls are implemented.
Responsibilities
- Prepare management reports, including monthly actual vs. budget and sales forecast analysis
- Prepare and submit mandatory regulatory filings within statutory deadlines
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with IFRS, with specific focus on IFRS 17
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors and provide required audit support
- Supervise junior accountants, review their work, and ensure timely completion of tasks
- Perform month-end closing, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and adjustments
- Prepare and review journal entries for branches and agencies
- Perform reconciliations for banks, clients, insurance companies, workshops, suppliers, and interbranch/intercompany accounts
- Review receipts and supporting documents related to claims, payments, refunds, and suppliers/providers
- Prepare payment vouchers, cheques, and related accounting records
- Maintain and update the fixed assets register
- Prepare monthly employee deduction vouchers
- Prepare and manage bank and supplier confirmations on a periodic basis
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field with additional professional accounting certificate is preferred
- 3 to 6 years of experience in accounting, preferably in insurance industry
- Strong experience in regulatory reporting, management reporting, and IFRS compliance
- Working knowledge of IFRS 17 and insurance accounting standards
