Job Description
The Senior Cost Control Engineer is responsible for managing, monitoring, and controlling project costs for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The role ensures accurate budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting, and financial control in coordination with project management and commercial teams.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and control project budgets, cost breakdown structures (CBS), and cash flow forecasts
- Monitor project expenditures and analyze cost variances against approved budgets
- Prepare monthly cost reports, cost-to-complete, and final cost forecasts
- Coordinate with planning engineers to align cost control with project schedules and progress updates
- Review contractors’ interim payment certificates (IPCs) and cost claims
- Evaluate variation orders, change requests, and claims with cost impact analysis
- Monitor commitments, procurement costs, and subcontractor expenditures
- Support risk management by identifying cost risks and mitigation measures
- Assist in project close-out, final accounts, and financial audits
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in cost control for water & wastewater projects
- Strong understanding of infrastructure works including pipelines, pumping stations, treatment plants, and utilities
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost reporting
- Proficiency in MS Excel and cost control / ERP systems
- Good knowledge of FIDIC contracts and contract administration
- Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills
