Monitor and execute structural fitting operations on hull blocks and assemblies at the Pre-Erection (P.E) and Dock areas, from fabrication through to launching and delivery, to ensure accurate alignment, safe execution, and readiness for welding and sub-assembly, in full compliance with the IMI Management System standards for safety, quality, and operational excellence.
1. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by ensuring proper lighting, ventilation, clear access routes, fire extinguisher availability, and tidy cable management.
2. Comply with all safety regulations and work procedures, ensuring the correct and consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
3. Participate actively in safety inspections, toolbox talks, and other health, safety, and environment (HSE) initiatives.
4. Execute assigned structural fitting tasks within the defined timeframes to meet project schedules and productivity targets.
5. Follow instructions from supervisors and avoid making unauthorized decisions or changes to work processes.
6. Perform structural fitting tasks only after obtaining the required qualifications and certifications, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
7. Interpret and apply technical drawings and relevant standards (e.g., WPS) accurately before commencing any fitting work.
8. Inspect and operate tools and equipment to ensure they are in safe and proper working condition before use.
High School diploma or equivalent qualification (Welding apprentice)
• At least 9 years’ experience in the Shipyard/Ship repair Industry.
• Certified 2F,3F welder (ABS/Class Certified).
• Optional ability: Folk lift driving license.
• Familiar with the common welding types: shielded metal arc welding
(SMAW), flux cored arc welding (FCAW)
• 2F, 3F qualified.
• Need to have a professional cutting skill.
• Inspecting materials, welding equipment and tools.
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective
clothing (such as face- shield, gloves etc.,)
Understanding various welding processes, Weld symbols, Weld maps,
as well as cutting and grinding operations.
• Must not have acrophobia, claustrophobia.
• Good oral communication skills in English.
• Good Communication Skills (oral and written) in the English Language.
