Cost Control Engineer
Job Description
Responsible for monitoring expenses, comparing budgets with actual spending, and overseeing cost management during major changes in products or processes. Generate reports that influence managerial decisions and expertise in data and financial analysis. Their role involves setting standard costs, examining discrepancies in expenditures, and producing detailed reports both regularly and as needed. Additionally, they design and oversee budgets, track expenditures, and perform financial process audits and transaction evaluations. Skills like problem-solving, team-working, project management and being detail-oriented are highly desirable. Principal Accountabilities include continuous monitoring of actual costs, preparing detailed project planning, ensuring department managers meet budget deadlines, and analyzing financial information to ensure operations stay within budget. Further duties involve forecasting expenditures, optimizing to avoid budget overruns, maintenance of the allocation system, performing month-end closing activities, and preparation of project performance reports. The role also requires close cooperation with operations teams and participating in process simplification. Employees are expected to define and monitor performance goals, take ownership of their learning agenda, and follow all company and ePMO department policies and safety procedures. Key internal relationships include the Planning & Cost Control Supervisor, and Finance and Project employees. Externally, the role involves vendors, subcontractors, consultants, and governmental authorities.
Responsibilities
- Continuous monitoring of actual costs
- Prepare the detailed planning of the project’s budget
- Ensure department managers meet budget submission deadlines
- Analyse financial information to ensure all operations are within budget
- Co-ordinate with Projects cost controller / Project manager / Director
- Forecasting future expenditures
- Examining discrepancies in expenditures
- Optimizing as necessary to avoid budget overruns
- Maintenance of the allocation system (cost center - allocation methodology – cost category)
- Performing the month end close closing activity and checklist
- Preparation of the project performance reports
- Closely cooperate with operation team
- Participate in the Simplification (standardized the process)
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or costing knowledge
- 8+ years of relevant experience in construction projects cost control
- PMP Certificate preferrable
- CMA or any financial certificates
