Job Description

We seek a postdoctoral associate with PhD degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or in related fields specialized in acoustic sensors, device fabrication, and electromechanical, electrical and optical characterizations. This position requires conducting translational research in next-generation large-area nanofiber acoustic sensor platforms in structural health monitoring applications. The candidate will work in a transdisciplinary environment to develop a nanofiber acoustic sensor platform, identify best suited nanomaterials, fabricate and characterize the nanofibers, build and characterize sensor prototypes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct translational research in next-generation large-area nanofiber acoustic sensor platforms.
  • Develop a nanofiber acoustic sensor platform.
  • Identify best suited nanomaterials.
  • Fabricate and characterize nanofibers.
  • Build and characterize sensor prototypes.
  • Work as part of a transdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with acoustic (piezoelectric) sensors and data acquisition systems.
  • Cleanroom experience and knowledge on microfabrication and device characterization.
  • Experience in electromechanical, optical and thermal characterization of composite films, nanofibers and devices.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics.
