 JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE 


The Foreman, Pre-Outfitting - Piping is responsible for overseeing and managing the pre-outfitting activities  in the shipbuilding process. They lead a team of industrial workers and ensure that the pre-outfitting tasks  are performed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with engineering specifications, safety regulations,  and production schedules. The Foreman plays a crucial role in coordinating resources, communicating with other departments, and maintaining a productive work environment. Their objective is to optimize the preoutfitting process, achieve high-quality standards, meet project timelines, and contribute to the successful completion of shipbuilding projects. Additionally, the Foreman is responsible for fostering a culture of  teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement within the Pre-Outfitting Department. 


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


1. Supervise and lead a team of industrial workers in the pre-outfitting activities, including equipment installation, cable routing, and system integration.


2. Review engineering drawings and specifications to understand pre-outfitting requirements.


3. Coordinate with the engineering department to clarify any uncertainties or issues related to pre-outfitting tasks.


4. Assign tasks to industrial workers and ensure they have the necessary resources and equipment to perform their duties effectively.


5. Monitor the progress of pre-outfitting activities and provide guidance and support as needed.


6. Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure that the pre-outfitting meets the required standards.


7. Ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.


8. Collaborate with other departments, such as the design and electrical departments, to resolve any technical or coordination issues.


9. Report on any issues or delays to the department manager and propose solutions for improvement.


 10. Train and mentor new industrial workers, providing guidance on pre-outfitting techniques and safety protocols.   


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE  


Education  


Diploma or technical certifications or vocational training in pre-outfitting processes (preferred).  


Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations)  


Valid professional qualification  


Competencies  


(Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)


1. Solid knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, and preoutfitting techniques for equipment installation, cable routing, and system integration.  


2. Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and equipment required for pre-outfitting activities.  


3. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to address preoutfitting challenges effectively.  


4. Excellent communication and leadership abilities to effectively manage and motivate a team.  


5. Ability to work well under pressure and meet project deadlines.  


6. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in a shipbuilding or industrial setting.  


7. Flexibility to work in shifts and adapt to changing production schedules.  


8. High attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.  


Experience


Minimum 9 years of experience in shipbuilding.  Proven experience in shipbuilding or a related industry, with a strong background in pre-outfitting processes


Languages


Good Communication Skills (oral and written) in the English Language.
