Head of People
Job Description
We’re looking for a Head of People & Performance to own performance, incentives, and people risk across the business. This is a leadership function focused on building a high-performing, accountable team while ensuring people's decisions are fair, compliant, and aligned with the long-term interests of the business. You’ll work closely with the CEO and COO to set clear performance expectations, support difficult conversations, and ensure people's decisions are fair, compliant, and well-documented.
Responsibilities
- Design and own the company’s performance management framework
- Establish clear review cycles, expectations, and success metrics
- Support leaders with underperformance and improvement plans
- Coach leaders through difficult feedback, performance issues, and exits
- Ensure consistency, fairness, and documentation in all people decisions
- Design short-term and long-term incentive structures
- Align compensation, bonuses, and progression with performance and business goals
- Oversee employment risk, compliance, and people-related documentation
- Partner with legal where needed to mitigate exposure
- Ensure terminations and disputes are handled cleanly and defensibly
- Advise leadership on role clarity, team structure, and growth planning
- Act as a strategic thought partner on people decisions
Qualifications
- 8–12+ years experience in senior HR / People leadership roles
- Strong background in performance management and employee relations
- Comfortable handling high-stakes, sensitive conversations
- Commercially minded and risk-aware
- Able to operate independently in a fast-moving environment
- Experience supporting international or fully remote teams is preferred
- Familiarity with platforms such as Deel, Workable, Remote.com is preferred
- Experience mentoring, training, or supporting HR or admin team members is preferred
