Job Description
Scaylor builds data infrastructure for private equity and mid-market companies. We’re hiring a Data Engineer to own the process of understanding customer databases and transforming them into reliable, well-modeled silver layers. This role is about reverse-engineering messy production schemas, designing clean canonical models, and building batch transformation pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Explore and document unfamiliar production databases
- Identify entities, relationships, and business logic from raw tables
- Design and build Bronze → Silver transformation pipelines
- Create clean, canonical tables for customers, transactions, events, etc.
- Define schema standards and modeling conventions
- Maintain metadata, lineage, and versioning for models
- Build batch pipelines using Python and SQL
- Monitor pipeline reliability, performance, and cost
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
- Strong Python and SQL
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines
- Experience working directly with production databases
- Solid understanding of data modeling and schema design
- Comfort working with messy, undocumented data
