Policy Advisor, Natural Resource Justice Global Program
Job Description
Oxfam is a global organization that fights inequality to end poverty and injustice. Purpose: The Policy Advisor supports Oxfam’s Natural Resource Justice (NRJ) global program. They will work with Associate Directors to provide implementation, grants management, policy analysis, and advocacy support. Responsibilities: Develop and implement advocacy strategies to influence U.S. government, companies, and investors. Provide technical accompaniment to regional and country offices. Coordinate internally within the Oxfam confederation. Undertake policy analysis to strengthen influence of extractive industries sector. Monitor human rights violations and corruption. Support research and fundraising initiatives. Represent Oxfam externally. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in political science or related discipline. 3-5 years of experience in policy, advocacy, and campaigns. Expertise in extractive industries, human rights, and transparency issues. Project management skills. Ability to communicate in French and/or Spanish preferred. Salary: $75,000 - $85,000.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement advocacy strategies to influence U.S. government, companies, and investors
- Provide strategy and technical accompaniment to regional and country offices
- Coordinate internally within the Oxfam confederation to support country-led advocacy
- Undertake policy and political analysis to strengthen Oxfam’s influence on extractive industries
- Monitor developments on inequality, human rights violations, and corruption
- Support research efforts and analyze MEL data
- Support fundraising initiatives and donor engagement
- Represent Oxfam externally at relevant conferences and events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, government, international affairs, or a development related discipline
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of relevant and progressive experience in policy, advocacy and campaigns
- Expertise in global, regional and national trends regarding extractive industries, human rights, transparency and inequality issues
- Demonstrated experience writing and executing advocacy plans
- Familiarity with U.S. government foreign policy and practice
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to communicate in French and/or Spanish
