Field Engineer Pavement (Airfield)
Job Description
Field Engineer Pavement (Airfield) at Parsons. Responsible for supervising on-site pavement construction activities including subgrade preparation, sub-base and base layers, asphalt paving, and concrete pavement works. Ensures runway, taxiway, and apron pavements are constructed in accordance with approved drawings, method statements, and technical specifications.
Responsibilities
- Supervise on-site pavement construction activities including subgrade preparation, sub-base and base layers, asphalt paving, and concrete pavement works
- Ensure runway, taxiway, and apron pavements are constructed in accordance with approved drawings, method statements, and technical specifications
- Monitor paving operations including layer thickness, compaction, temperatures, finishing tolerances, and curing
- Coordinate with QA and QC teams and laboratories for field and laboratory testing such as density, gradation, asphalt content, concrete strength, and smoothness
- Verify compliance with ICAO, FAA, and local aviation authority pavement requirements
- Identify quality issues and non-conformances and support implementation of corrective actions
- Coordinate with survey teams to verify horizontal and vertical alignments, crossfalls, slopes, and tolerances
- Assist with verification of levels, profiles, and as-built records
- Liaise with construction, planning, QA and QC, and HSE teams to ensure proper sequencing and productivity
- Prepare daily progress reports, inspection records, and technical documentation
- Support resolution of technical queries, RFIs, and construction challenges
- Ensure pavement works comply with approved HSE plans, risk assessments, and method statements
- Work in accordance with airside safety rules, FOD control requirements, and permit-to-work systems
- Support safe operations within restricted and operational airfield environments
Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 8 years of experience in pavement engineering or site supervision
- Proven experience in runway, taxiway, apron, or highway pavement works
- Strong knowledge of asphalt and concrete pavement construction, materials, and testing procedures
- Familiarity with pavement standards including ICAO, FAA, AASHTO, and ASTM
- Ability to interpret pavement drawings, specifications, and method statements
- Proficiency in MS Office and technical reporting
