Junior Backend Software Engineer
Job Description
We're looking for a Junior Backend Engineer to join our engineering team and help build reliable, scalable backend systems. You'll work primarily with Python, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Cloud Run, and PostgreSQL, and collaborate closely with senior engineers to design, build, and maintain production services. We make heavy use of Claude Code and AI-assisted development workflows. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to learn modern cloud-native backend development in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services using Python
- Build and deploy containerized applications on GCP Cloud Run
- Design and interact with PostgreSQL databases
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Collaborate with senior engineers on architecture and implementation
- Use Claude Code and AI-assisted tools to speed up development
- Monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues, and fix bugs
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related fields from a top university
- Prior experience in insurance or education in insurance is required
