Lead Human Factors Engineer
Job Description
The Lead Human Factors Engineer will serve as the HFE lead for a contract with the VA health program, owning the HFE strategy, roadmap, and quality bar. You will translate research in human factors and clinical informatics into scalable methods and champion Lean-Agile principles.
Responsibilities
- Own the HFE strategy, roadmap, and governance for the contract
- Translate research into scalable methods and guidance
- Plan and execute mixed-methods research (contextual inquiry, usability testing)
- Design and conduct workflow analyses across clinical domains
- Apply advanced risk and resilience methods (FMEA, STPA)
- Visualize system-wide impacts of design changes
- Mentor cross-functional teams in HFE practices
- Define and track HFE KPIs
Qualifications
- Master's degree required
- 10+ years of experience in human factors engineering
- Record leading research for safety-critical systems
- Experience applying SAFe® Lean-Agile principles
- Strong understanding of clinical informatics
