Job Description

The Electrical Power Production Technician installs, operates, and modifies electrical generating power production plants and Ground/Mobile Power Generation equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Installs and operates electrical power plants, distribution equipment, and automatic transfer panels
  • Checks equipment for serviceability
  • Positions gasoline, diesel, and turbine engines; generators; switchgear; and air compressors
  • Inspects, tests, and services component systems such as safety, fuel, lubrication, and cooling
  • Observes and interprets instruments such as ammeters and voltmeters
  • Adjusts engine generator systems to maintain proper voltage and frequency
  • Operates high voltage switches and circuit breakers
  • Performs maintenance and repairs on electrical power generating equipment
  • Troubleshoots malfunctions and replaces defective components
  • Maintains records and performance logs

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 (five) years’ experience in operation and maintenance of engines, generators, and distribution components
  • Task-certified 5-Level AAS Power Pro
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • DoD Secret Clearance
